Acupunture Therapy, The Effectiveness of Pain Relief
When acupuncture was introduced in the United States is the effectiveness of pain relief has captured public attention. In 1972, when the New York Times reporter James Reston received acupuncture treatment for pain relief after surgery, so he was impressed with the result that he wrote about acupuncture upon returning to the StatesUSA.
In China, the effectiveness of acupuncture has been trusted for thousands of years, only in the last 40-50 years that acupuncture has been practiced and accepted in the West. Two recent studies at the University of Heidelberg in Germany and the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNS) shed light on the effectiveness of acupuncture on pain medications for patients. Based on the results of experiments in Heidelberg, and more patients who received acupuncture had pain relief than patients who received placebo. A study in UMDNS, the patient receives an external stimulus pain while receiving acupuncture for pain relief. Today, patients were asked to rate their level of pain. During acupuncture treatment, patients reported less pain in the external stimulation and MRI results showed that the activity decreased in brain areas that respond to pain. UMDNS Experiments show that when acupuncture is performed, the brain’s response to pain is also reduced. The result coincides with the belief that acupuncture, when done properly, can effectively control and reduce pain by stimulating endorphins, chemicals that block the body’s natural pain.
Many acupuncture points are located near nerves. When certain muscles are stimulated by acupuncture needles into the muscle sends a message to the central nervous system that causes the release of endorphins. The endorphins block pain messages from being delivered to the brain.
Acupuncture has shown that effective drugs for many types of diseases. Acupuncture is effective in chronic pain medication, headaches, menstrual cramps, back pain and neck muscles. In addition, acupuncture is effective for drugs against arthritis, facial pain, cancer pain and postoperative pain.
United States, a report in four adults experience some form of the disease for more than a day. Although there are many drugs for pain relief, these drugs have undesirable side effects. Acupuncture is becoming the most reliable alternative medicine to relieve pain and, unlike conventional medicine, there is little or no effect.Over 3 million people a year receive acupuncture treatment in the United States demonstrates the efficacy and safety of acupuncture for pain relief.
